Menopause in the Workplace
- Supporting Your Workforce
- Strengthening Compliance
- Preparing for Employment Rights Act 2025
As menopause action plans become a key workplace requirement under the Employment Rights Act 2025, employers are increasingly expected to demonstrate how they support employees experiencing menopause. Creating an action plan: guidance for employers highlights menopause support as a core element of workplace gender equality planning.
At The Women's Hormone Clinic, our specialist clinicians provide evidence-based workplace training, menopause awareness programmes and action plan support to help organisations:
- Train managers confidently
- Reduce discrimination risks
- Improve employee retention
- Support wellbeing and productivity
- Develop menopause action plans
- Prepare for upcoming reporting requirements
Why does this affect you?
- Menopausal women are the fastest growing demographic in the workforce.
- 70%-80% of women of menopausal age are in work, many in senior leadership roles.
- 75% of women experience menopausal symptoms with 25% reporting 'severe symptoms'.
- 90% of menopausal women say that their symptoms are problematic at work and that thy feel embarrassed or unable to disclose their menopausal status or difficulties for fear they may be stigmatised.
- 35% have taken annual leave as a result of their symptoms and 20% have considered leaving their job because of their symptoms.
Why Employers Need to Act Now
The legal landscape is changing.
The Employment Rights Act 2025 has introduced menopause action plans as part of wider equality reporting requirements for larger employers, with voluntary plans available from 2026 and mandatory implementation expected from Spring 2027.
At the same time, under the Equality Act 2010, employers must already ensure they do not discriminate against employees experiencing menopause-related symptoms where these relate to:
- Age
- Sex
- Disability
- Gender reassignment
Proactive menopause education helps organisations reduce risk while creating a healthier and more inclusive workplace culture.
